I Believe in Nothing, I Believe in Everything….

The Philosophy of Nihilism….

I have always been a firm believer in God and the profound power of a divine presence that operates in the background of our lives. It’s a belief that has guided me through life’s trials and triumphs, providing comfort and purpose. However, recently, I stumbled upon a philosophical conundrum– Nihilism, which suggests that everything may be devoid of meaning. I began to question if, beneath my unwavering faith, there might be a nagging doubt: What if we are merely existing, and there is no grand scheme after all?

Nihilism, the philosophical abyss where belief in nothing becomes the belief in something. It’s the paradox that’s so absurdly profound, it almost feels like a cosmic joke.

Here I woke up one day, declaring confidently, "I believe in nothing!" It felt liberating, like Marie Kondo-ing my mind. But then it hit me like a ton of absurd bricks: Isn’t declaring belief in nothing itself a belief? It’s like scrubbing a whiteboard clean, erasing all the marks, and then insisting it’s blank even though the echoes of erased ideas still resonate. Was I a believer or a whiteboard artist of erased convictions?

I pondered the coexistence of my belief in God’s power and this newfound philosophy of nihilism. Could these two ideas peacefully coexist? Was it possible that, within the broader context of things, my belief in God was just another belief in a universe devoid of inherent meaning?

As I contemplated the paradox, I couldn’t help but imagine the Universe, sitting back with a bucket of popcorn, watching me grapple with the idea of believing in nothingness while simultaneously holding onto my faith in God. It felt like trying to define the taste of water and identify its source – an endeavor both futile and endlessly entertaining.

The Universe, it seems, has a mischievous sense of humor, watching as we humans ponder the meaning of meaninglessness and wrestle with our faith in the unseen. Perhaps, the grand scheme of existence is more complex than we can fathom. Perhaps belief in God’s power subtly adds colour to the blank canvas of Nihilism. After all, in a world where nothing means anything, our faith in something beyond the void might be the most meaningful response…..
